  • Is Winning the Lottery Really a Sign of Good Luck?

What would you do if you won the lottery?

To be honest, I do not strongly believe in things like lotteries. I do not consider winning a lottery to be a true sign of good fortune. In my opinion, real satisfaction and self-respect come from hard work, discipline, and honesty—such as clearing an examination like the UPSC or achieving success in a respectable public service.

In today’s world, people are increasingly attracted to shortcuts and easy paths. This is why lotteries, betting, and gambling have gained popularity. Platforms like Dream11 and My11Circle have trapped many people so deeply that escaping from this cycle becomes extremely difficult. I am not saying this to appear idealistic, because I myself once thought in this direction. However, with time, understanding, and experience, I was able to come out of this mindset, for which I am truly grateful to God.

I believe that success earned through hard work strengthens a person from within. On the other hand, the desire for easy money slowly weakens an individual and distances them from real-life struggles and growth.

If by chance I were ever to win a lottery, I would first fulfill my basic and essential needs in a limited way. But my greatest happiness would come from helping those who genuinely need support. From my experience, the peace gained by doing something for others is far greater than any material pleasure.

Therefore, if I ever get such an opportunity, I would like to work for society and the environment—especially for those who are most in need. For me, that would be the true meaning of winning.

    What makes a good leader?

  • A Good Leader Is Not Just an Individual, but a Product of Society

    What makes a good leader?

good leader is not formed by personal qualities alone; rather, leadership is shaped by the society in which a person is born and grows. The mindset, values, and expectations of society determine what kind of leaders emerge. In this sense, it is fair to say that leaders are a reflection of society. The qualities of good leadership—such as vision, integrity, responsibility, decision-making ability, empathy, and compassion—can only develop when society itself respects and promotes these values. When honesty and accountability are rewarded, responsible leaders naturally emerge. In today’s time, especially in Indian politics, the word “leader” often carries a negative connotation. If someone says they want to enter politics to serve the nation, people frequently respond with sarcasm or disbelief. Ironically, leaders facing multiple criminal cases or possessing a strongman image are often perceived as “powerful” or “effective.”This situation has not arisen overnight. It is the result of collective social thinking. When society ignores wrongdoing and places power above ethics, politics begins to reflect the same priorities. One of the biggest problems in modern politics is that politicians rarely accept their mistakes and fail to remain accountable to the public. Accepting a mistake is not a sign of weakness; it reflects moral courage and inner strength. However, when society views admission of error as weakness, leaders naturally avoid taking responsibility. If politics sincerely adopts just two principles—first, the culture of accepting mistakes, andsecond, genuine accountability to the people—then good leadership will no longer be rare.Ultimately, blaming leaders alone will not solve the problem. Society must also introspect. When people learn to ask questions, distinguish right from wrong, and value ethics over power, a healthier democracy and better leadership will emerge.Because the truth is simple—leaders do not shape society alone; society shapes its leaders first.

  • Happiness Is a Practice, Not a Constant State

    When are you most happy?

Every human being tries to remain happy all the time. I do the same. I make a conscious effort to stay positive, yet there are moments when sadness quietly enters the mind. This does not mean we are weak—it simply means we are human. Life is a balance of emotions, and accepting this truth is the first step toward inner peace.
For me, happiness is not something extraordinary or grand. It exists in simple, meaningful moments. One of my greatest sources of joy is being close to nature. Spending time among trees and plants, caring for them, and watching them grow gives me a deep sense of calm. Nature does not judge, compete, or rush—it teaches patience, silence, and balance. Whenever my mind feels heavy, nature gently heals it.
Another powerful source of happiness in my life is helping others. I am not sharing this as a moral ideal or to sound virtuous. I truly try to ensure that there is no gap between my words and my actions. What I believe in, I try to live by. Even small acts of kindness have the power to bring immense peace to the heart.
I clearly remember an incident from my student days that shaped my understanding of happiness. At that time, I had only 150–200 rupees in my bank account, which I needed for basic necessities for the next two days. Around the same time, news of a devastating flood came from another part of the country. Without overthinking, I donated that entire amount to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. My bank account became empty, but my heart felt full.
The peace I experienced after that act is difficult to describe. That moment taught me a lifelong lesson—that true happiness comes not from what we accumulate, but from what we are able to give. Since then, inner peace has become my true goal in life, not material success alone.
Today, I firmly believe that happiness lies in simple living, staying connected with nature, helping others without expectations, and trying every day to be a better human being. We may not be happy all the time, but if we continue to move in the right direction with honesty and compassion, happiness will find its way back to us—again and again.

  • Finding Joy Without a Fixed Schedule

What was the last thing you did for play or fun?

If I truly reflect on my life today, I realize that I no longer have a fixed day or time dedicated to entertainment or relaxation. Past experiences have taught me that happiness does not always follow a schedule. It cannot be planned for a specific date or limited to a particular moment.
Now, whenever I get an opportunity, I naturally find something that brings me joy or peace. It is important to understand that no human being can remain happy all the time—and that is completely normal. Life has its ups and downs, and emotions change with circumstances.
For example, just yesterday morning, after reaching home, I went for a walk in the fields. The fresh air, open space, and calm surroundings helped me relax deeply. Sometimes, simply stepping out for a walk or wandering around on foot becomes the best form of relaxation.
A few days ago, there were weddings in nearby areas. Attending those celebrations, meeting people, sharing laughter, and enjoying the lively atmosphere brought a different kind of happiness. Such moments remind us that joy often exists in simple experiences, not grand plans.
I believe it is not necessary for a person to be happy at every moment. However, it is essential to keep trying—doing small things that help us stay positive and content. Recognizing and appreciating these small joys is the true meaning of entertainment and relaxation in life.

  • Five Essential Grocery Items Every Household Needs

List your top 5 grocery store items.

Human life is centered around three basic needs—food, clothing, and shelter. Among them, food holds the highest priority. After air and water, it is food—especially grains—that truly satisfies hunger and brings peace to the human mind. A household with basic grocery items can never remain hungry, even in difficult times.

Here are five essential grocery items that form the backbone of every home:

    1. Grains

Grains such as wheat, rice, and millets are the foundation of daily meals. They provide energy and fulfill the most basic requirement of food. Grains have the power to calm hunger and bring stability to life.

    2. Lentils (Dal)

Lentils are a major source of protein and nourishment. They strengthen the body and complete a simple yet balanced meal. In many households, dal is a symbol of comfort and nutrition.

    3. Vegetables

Vegetables supply essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They support good health and bring freshness to meals. A nutritious diet is incomplete without vegetables.

    4. Cooking Oil

Cooking oil is essential for preparing food. When used in moderation, it improves taste and helps in proper cooking. Every kitchen depends on oil for daily meals.

    5. Spices

Spices enhance flavor, aroma, and identity of food. Many spices also aid digestion and support health. Indian kitchens, especially, are incomplete without spices.

    Conclusion

These five grocery items—grains, lentils, vegetables, cooking oil, and spices—are not just kitchen supplies; they are life essentials. They ensure that no one goes hungry and fulfill the most important part of roti, kapda, aur makaan. After air and water, food—particularly grains—brings satisfaction, balance, and peace to human life.
